Timber Roofing - System of optimal support position, with Karamba3D and Galapagos

This free project (2023) is a timber construction for roofing.

Die Shape and size of the roofed area can be chosen individually. Based on this an algorithms determines the optimal support position.

The plug-ins Karamba3D and Galapagos were used for the structural analysis and optimization.

The video shows the process of determining the optimal support position using the algorithm.

Ultimately, there is a bending moment of 2.3 kNm, which means a material utilization of approx. 80% is achieved (without safety factors on the resistance side).
